Time Frame: Nov 24 – Jan 2025
Role: UI & UX Design, Icon Design
- Design of bespoke user interface icons
- Design of the full set of UI screens (including keypad, calender etc)
Involvement
The UI/UX design for the XploraOne smartphone was developed specifically for teenagers, focusing on creating an intuitive mobile experience on a flip phone. The challenge for me was to design a modern mobile interface that works seamlessly on a compact screen while supporting both touch and physical input.
The design process prioritised usability, accessibility, and clear information hierarchy, ensuring that core features are easy to navigate and understand. Through a clean visual design, bold iconography, and consistent interaction patterns, the interface delivers a smooth and responsive user experience tailored to younger users.
The project was informed by extensive research into teenage digital behaviour, including usage patterns, interaction preferences, and content consumption habits. These insights shaped the overall strategy.
Note
HMD produced the parent phone – HMD Fusion X1 that works in conjunction with the XploraOne
